Sterling Ocean Grows Fleet with New Order at HMD

Sterling Ocean has announced a new order for four 50,000 DWT product tankers from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in South Korea. This is a follow on investment to the three product tankers that were ordered from STX in 2013. Sterling Ocean will take delivery of the vessels in 2015.

Under the Sterling Ocean umbrella, Alterna has invested in a fleet of seven product and chemical tankers. The vessels will be used to transport petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel as well as food-grade oils and easy chemicals. Three of the vessels have been placed on long-term charters Stena Weco, a leading shipper of petroleum products, edible oils and easy chemicals.
